SPEECH OUTREACH FALL CLASS (Speech Emphasis)
 
The Speech Outreach Fall class meets on Tuesday afternoons at Monte Vista from 4:00 - 5:30 pm from October 9 through November 13.  The class is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders.  The Fall class will focus on speech events and presentation skills.  Students may choose a speech event of their choice including persuasive, informative, extemporaneous and humorous or dramatic interpretation.  You can read about these events on our website.  Special emphasis will be placed on use of language, voice, gesture, and organizational skills.  Previous experience in these events is not necessary.  Students should report to the Monte Vista Student Commons at least 15 minutes early on the first day of the class.  $125.00
 
 

SPEECH OUTREACH SPRING CLASS (Debate Emphasis)
 
The Speech Outreach Spring class meets on Tuesday afternoons at Monte Vista from 4:00 - 5:30 pm from February 5 through March 12.  The class is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders.  The Spring class will focus on debate emphasizing argumentation and persuasion skills.  Students can debate individually or in pairs. Students will learn the art of argumentation through a variety of assignments both prepared and impromptu.  Special emphasis will be placed on use of logic, voice, gesture, and organizational skills.  Student can choose between Parli, Lincoln-Douglas and Public Forum Debate.  Previous experience in these events is not necessary Students should report to the Monte Vista Student Commons at least 15 minutes early on the first day of the class.  $125.00
